The world’s largest collection of more than 11,000 video games is for sale.
Michael Thomasson of Buffalo, N.Y., had his
collection declared the largest in the world by The Guinness Book of
World Records in 2012.
It consists of games for more than 21 consoles, some of which were never released in North America.
Thomasson said that while he is selling his collection, he’s not giving up on gaming.
“I simply have an immediate family and
extended family that have needs that need to be addressed,” he said,
according to the listing on Game Gavel.
“While I do not wish to part with these
games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this
action is how I will help meet them.”
The highest bid so far is $98,500. Thomasson
estimated his collection is valued between $700,000 and $800,000. The
auction ends June 15.
